(A) The standard hinges are a steel hinge. We do offer Ball Bearing hinges, Solid Brass Hinges, steeple tips and ball tips for most of the hinges. They come in a many different finishes. Ask our door sales people ( 1-800-772-0314 ) what exactly is available for your doors.

(A)   Almost nothing is impervious to the elements. Although their are ways to make them more resilient. Weatherstrips and door bottoms help prevent rain & cold or hot air from entering or escaping. Also their are many paints , varnishes , lacquer  or other finishing sealant out on the market today.

(A)   Yes,you could use a French door as an exterior door. But may not be the best recommendation , because French doors normally have one or several glass panels in the door. With an exterior door it would have a better chance of glass breakage.

(A)   You have the option of having the door pre-hung or as a door slap. A slab being a door with no boring or no frame around the door.

 (A)   Yes,your exterior door could be painted if you chose to do so. We would suggest using a good primer and good quality exterior paint. Your local paint store should be able to help you.
