Buffalo Forge Steel Doors are offered in a variety of beautiful designs and finish colors to match your expectations. All standard doors shown in this catalog are 8 feet tall, and custom sizes and designs may be produced upon request. A variety of threshold and glass options are also available.

The Buffalo Forge Steel Door System
Buffalo Forge Steel Doors are assembled door entryway units that are ready for installation.
These entryway units includes the door or doors, jamb, weatherstrip, glass panel, hinges, threshold, and transom (where applicable). The door lockset hardware is not provided by GlassCraft, but the door is drilled and ready for lock and latch installation. Our standard Buffalo Forge doors are double-bored for a lock with a 2-3/4” backset. (Mortise locks and multipoint lock sets cannot be used on these doors).
These steel and wrought iron doors offer a steel door with a decorative steel and wrought iron grill as its focal point. Behind this decorative grille is an “operable” inner glass door-within-a-door. This inner door latches to the “inside” face of the door, and allows the homeowner to clean both sides of the glass panel, or talk through the door while remaining securely inside of the house.
One of the many advantages of Buffalo Forge doors is that the entryway unit includes a Endura™ brand adjustable threshold, a door sweep, and Q-Lon brand weatherstripping. Plus ball-bearing heavy-duty hinges. All Buffalo Forge Doors are available factory “prefinished” only in your choice of three finish colors.
“Double Thick” Insulated Glass and Glass Texture Options
Our “IG” or insulated glass panels improve security, are more energy efficient, and easy to clean. In our doors and transoms in the Buffalo Forge series, the double-thick IG panels permanently seal the textured or clear glass to inhibit condensation and to increase security.
Choose from three different glass texture options to complement your Buffalo Forge entry door from GlassCraft. All three glass textures shown here are used to produce an Insulated Glass panel to fit into your door choice behind the wrought iron grille.
The capacity to “see through” the glass panel varies depending upon the glass texture chosen. The textured decorative glass faces to the “inside” of the double thick IG insulated glass panel for easy cleaning on both exterior glass surfaces. The inner glass door uses a compression weatherstrip to inhibit leaking.
Buffalo Forge Finish Color Options
Choose from 3 Color Options on all Buffalo Forge Doors You may choose from the three Buffalo Forge door finish colors shown below for your Buffalo Forge Entryway. Each offers a soft satin sheen. These finishes are hand-applied, and each entry will be unique. We suggest purchasing your door hardware to match the door color that you select. Three finish colors are available for the door sill. Real Hand-made Wrought Iron Decorative Grilles and Doors Each Buffalo Forge wrought iron grille design series has been designed by our artisans, individually crafted by hand, and welded to the face of the Buffalo Forge door for beauty and security. As these products are hand-made, they may vary slightly.
Prehung Entry Specifications and Options
1. Jamb Size Options—All Buffalo Forge entryways shown in this catalog are “prehung” as an assembled exterior door entry. Available are door jamb frames that are 45/8½ wide or 65/8½ wide, depending upon the thickness of the wall into which the door and frame is to be installed. See drawing below. Please note that brick mold and interior casing are not included and are not available. The jamb included pre-drilled mounting holes for installation of the door unit into the opening. A complete Buffalo Forge installation Guide is included with each entry, and is also available by download from our web site at www.gcdoor.com.
2. Lock Preparation Options—Buffalo Forge doors are prepared and drilled for a variety of exterior lock and latch sets. 2-3/4” backset only. Note that mortise locks can not be mounted in Buffalo Forge units. Also note that these doors are 1-1/2” thick. Your lock and latch sets must be “mountable” in a door of this thickness.
3. Glass Panel Latches—Buffalo Forge doors include an operable “inner door” to hold the glass door panel. This inner door may be opened independently of the main doors. See drawings on page 5 and above for more information. This inner door uses “latches” to open and close the inner glass door panel. This latch is shown in the photo at right.
4. Door Hinges—All Buffalo Forge doors include our exclusive heavy duty steel and bronze ball bearing “pin” hinges. These very heavy duty hinges are included with each entryway. The hinge casing is steel. The inner pin hinge is stainless steel. The bushings are cast and machined bronze. Above and below each pin is a stainless steel ball-bearing. Refer to the photo at left.
5. Prehang Configuration Options—All Buffalo Forge doors have various entry configurations available. All doors may be “right hand” or “left hand” opening. In addition, all entryways may be ordered as “inswing” or “outswing”. Inswing means opening to the inside of the house. Outswing means that the door opens to the outside of the home. Inswing doors are available from stock in these configurations, and outswing doors will require 8 weeks lead time. Please refer to the chart at right when ordering your entryway, so that we will construct it exactly to your specifications.
6. Sill Color Options—Most Buffalo Forge entryways use Endura Products brand adjustable composite Z-Series sills, which have been designed to eliminate the problems of wood sills. Water penetration, rot, warping, and discoloration are the result of inferior materials and obsolete manufacturing technologies. Our Endura sills utilize all-synthetic construction to ensure a problem-free entry sill.
